Children and Young People’s Service – South Tyneside and Sunderland

Looking after your mental health

A team of professionals who offer support and advice to aid mental health and positive well-being.

Our service works with children and young people aged 0-18 who may be showing signs of emotional distress and/or behavioural difficulties. We aim to deal with such difficulties at the earliest possible stage of intervention in the hope that children and young people will develop skills and resilience to promote positive well-being.

Together for Children

We provide a range of services to improve the lives of children, young people and families in Sunderland. From advice and guidance for young people, parents and carers, and professionals, to fostering and adoption services, we keep children safe from harm and ensure they can fulfil their potential.

Kooth provides children and young people a safe, online platform available 24/7, 365 days per year,  where they can explore and access professional and peer support around their emotional wellbeing and mental health.   The service is available for young people aged 11-25 years old across Newcastle and Gateshead

Young Minds

Young Minds are the UK’s leading charity fighting for children and young people's mental health.
We want to see a world where no young person feels alone with their mental health, and all young people get the mental health support they need, when they need it, no matter what.

Sunderland Counselling Service and Sunderland All Together Consortium

Good Vibes

We offer counselling to young people from the age of 11 to 25 who attend a youth club in the Sunderland area. This gives young people a place to come and talk about anything that may be upsetting them, getting them stressed or angry. The counsellor doesn't judge or say what you need to do, but helps you to explore what is causing you difficulties and helps you to decide what will help you. Within the youth clubs there are an assortment of different activities young people can access.

The opening days and hours differ according to the opening hours of the different youth provisions, but the sessions are offered after school hours. Each youth club advertises their opening times and what they offer on Facebook.
