The Royal Victoria Hospital, Newcastle

The RVI have been providing healthcare to the communities of Newcastle and the North East for over 250 years, but there’s nothing old-fashioned about our services which are among the safest and most advanced in the UK.

From broken bones in our Emergency Department to tropical fevers in the infectious diseases unit; from all types of neurolocial conditions to children's immune system deficiencies, we provide a full range of modern healthcare services.

The Great North Children’s Hospital offers a wide range of specialist services for children including our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit for the seriously ill, and our state-of-the-art “bubble unit” for children with Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Syndrome (SCIDS) – one of only two in the country.

Our Maternity Department is one of the UK’s largest, helping to bring nearly 7,000 babies into the world every year. And with our consultant-led service, you know you’re in the safest hands possible however your pregnancy develops.
